Ukrainian officials mocked Russian President Vladimir Putin’s order of a partial military mobilization of reserve forces and dismissed his threats to “use all the means at our disposal” to defend Russia’s territorial integrity.
“People who are unable to organize a speech have undertaken to organize a mobilization,” Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych wrote in a Telegram post. Mykhailo Podolyak, a top aide to President Volodomyr Zelensky, wrote on Twitter that “Russians who demanded the destruction of [Ukraine] ended up getting: 1. Mobilization. 2. Closed borders, blocking of bank accounts. 3. Prison for desertion. Everything is still according to the plan, right? Life has a great sense of humor.”
